Beto woeful as Idrissa Gueye magnificent – Everton player ratings vs West Ham

Everton stole a point at the death thanks to a brilliant header from Jake O’Brien, and a sublime cross from Idrissa Gueye.

The Toffees thought they had earned a penalty in the first-half, when Beto went down in the box, before VAR intervened as it was revealed the Portuguese striker had kicked the ground, rather than being brought down by Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for the Hammers in the 68th minute, with a lovely curling effort beating the outstretched Jordan Pickford, after some tidy work by Jarrod Bowen.

With the game reaching it’s closing stages, Everton seemed to have wasted a good first-half, and the chances of getting any points.

That was until Gueye sprinted to the back post, volleying in an unbelievable cross, straight to the head of O’Brien, who headed home with aplomb.

The result sees both teams remain level on points, with Everton sitting 14th, and West Ham 16th, thanks to goal difference.

Jordan Pickford – 7

Made a fabulous save in the first-half to spare Jarrad Branthwaite’s blushes, was unable to keep out Soucek’s goal but made some good saves.

Jake O’Brien – 7

Having struggled to deal with Bowen all game long, the Irish defender popped up with a brilliant header to steal a point.

James Tarkowski – 4

Often caught out of position, and looked uncomfortable whenever Bowen picked up the ball.

Jarrad Branthwaite – 7

Everton fans are desperate to see Branthwaite sign a new contract, and the Man United target played well.

Vitaliy Mykolenko – 6

Good going forward, whilst nullifying Mohammed Kudus successfully.

Idrissa Gueye – 9 – Player-of-the-Match

Typically industrious performance from the Senegal international, showcasing his tidy passing and duel-winning abilities, assisted the equaliser with a sublime first-time volleyed cross.

James Garner (off for Iroegbunam 80′) – 6

Played well, passing the ball neatly, before being replaced as the Toffees went in search of an equaliser.

Abdoulaye Doucoure struggles against West Ham

Jack Harrison (off for Chermiti) – 4

Despite struggling, Harrison could remain at Everton in the summer, and the English winger was poor again against West Ham.

Abdoulaye Doucoure (off for Lindstrom 71′) – 5

Everton are attempting to negotiate a new contract with Doucoure, but the Mali international was unable to be a difference maker for his side.

Carlos Alcaraz – 8

Alcaraz has been fantastic since joining in January, and continued his good form, this time from the left-wing, had an opportunity to win the game but saw his effort just creep wide.

Beto (off for Broja 80′) – 3

Absolutely incapable of holding the up the ball when his team needed to, lost an aerial battle that led to West Ham’s opener

Jesper Lindstrom (on for Abdoulaye Doucoure 71′) – 4

Did little whilst on the pitch against West Ham, in keeping with his time at Everton.

Tim Iroegbunam (on for Garner 80′) – 7

Came on and gave Everton life, winning challenges, and popping up in dangerous areas.

Armando Broja (on for Beto 80′) – 5

Injured regularly, looked lacking in match fitness.

Youssef Chermiti (on for Harrison 80′) – 5

Put himself about, not necessarily very capably, being booked for a needless foul on Carlos Soler.
