Tottenham were expected to fight for domestic trophies and secure Champions League qualification this season. The Australian manager was backed significantly during the summer, but he has failed to get the best out of his team.
Tottenham are currently languishing in the midtable positions and they are set to miss out on Champions League qualification. The Europa League is their only chance of winning a trophy this season and it will be interesting to see if they can end their long wait for silverware.
Postecoglou’s job is safe for now
Fabrizio Romano has now delivered the latest update on the Australian manager’s future. He has revealed that Tottenham are currently focused on the present and they have not decided anything regarding the Australian manager’s future. It seems that his job is safe for now and it remains to be seen whether Postecoglou can turn things around.
He said to GMS: “At the moment, Tottenham’s full focus is on the present. Especially the Europa League, as a crucial target for Spurs this season. Nothing else coming from sources close to the club.”
There is no doubt that Tottenham have a talented squad and they should be doing a lot better than they have this season. They could still finish the season strongly and win a trophy. Winning the European competition will certainly give Postecoglou another lifeline at the North London club.
