Scholes did, however, give the Magpies some credit for their performance at Wembley Stadium, claiming that Liverpool never looked like winning the game and that Eddie Howe’s team controlled proceedings from the very first whistle.

Luke Edwards of the Telegraph took to X to respond to the footage of Scholes laughing down statue claims, saying: “Paul Scholes’ reaction here is genuinely awful. Complete lack of a wider understanding of football and other clubs’ dreams and aspirations. Mocking, dismissive and out of touch.”
More fans shared similar thoughts, with one stating; “Awful look for Scholes this. Totally out of touch with the fans. Entitlement personified. He will never get it,” while another added “What an arrogant, out of touch & classless reaction from Paul Scholes.”
