West Ham have made their final decision on Angel Gomes, having been linked with the Lille striker throughout the last few months.
Many were surprised at the lack of transfer activity at the London Stadium throughout the winter window, with Evan Ferguson their only arrival.
Things haven’t quite panned out as planned in regard to Ferguson, with the Irishman yet to impress for West Ham, albeit in a limited number of appearances.
However, a number of players were linked, including Lille midfielder Gomes, and it appears as though they have finally made a decision on that transfer.
Gomes decision made at West Ham
When Gomes was linked to West Ham, there was plenty of excitement at the London Stadium, given the name he has made for himself in Ligue 1.
However, according to a report from TBR (16 March), that interest has ended, with West Ham still yet to receive a response to their initial offer.
Lille | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Angel Gomes | 14 | 1 | 1 |
Gomes is said to have continued talks with other clubs, and David Sullivan has decided to move on from any potential deal.
It is believed that the Irons could return to talks, though that would be dependent on Gomes’ representatives showing a “willingness” to pursue a deal.

Graham Potter needs to be backed this summer
It has certainly been a season to forget for West Ham, though there has been plenty of signs of improvement ever since Graham Potter took charge.
There has been the occasional concern for West Ham attacking wise, though that could be subdued with attacking reinforcements in the summer.
With Ferguson looking as though he’s set to depart the London Stadium, the Hammers will be in dire need of a striker but could also do with some wide depth, given the lack of impact made by the likes of Luis Guilherme and Crysencio Summerville.
As for now, the main focus will be on making sure that the Irons have as strong a finish to the current campaign as possible, and carry as much momentum as they can into the new camapign.
