Newcastle United can move into the Premier League top five with a win away to Leicester City.
A 17-day break between the final versus Liverpool and the Premier League clash against Brentford on Wednesday gave the Magpies time to celebrate ending their 70-year domestic trophy drought. Eddie Howe feared a hangover against the Bees but it was avoided with a 2-1 win.
Howe is eyeing another positive result against Leicester, who sit 19th in the table, 15 points adrift of safety with eight games remaining. A win will move United up to fifth inside the Champions League places but Faes insists he and his teammates are still fighting.
“What you can always expect from Newcastle is a very aggressive, very energetic team,” Faes told Leicester’s club website. “They’re a good team and must be on a high as well so hopefully we can make them fall like we say and get some points this time playing at home. For us, it’s a very important game so we’re going to go 100% to win the game.
“A lot of people always speak but for us at the club, and for everyone in the squad, the most important thing is that we can still do it. It’s not finished yet. Obviously, it’s a very difficult task and everyone knows that, but it’s doable.

“I hope that we have a new energy and positive things to work on for the next few games. Let’s hope we are still in the race by then. I don’t think we need to look towards the last games because by then it could be finished if we think like that.
“For me, the most important is to look at it game by game, that’s something that the staff are really implementing as well. That’s the only way to approach it.”
What Eddie Howe has said ahead of the visit to Leicester City
Despite Leicester’s perilous position, Howe stands wary. “No, they’re not out of it and I think they’ll believe they still have a chance,” he said. “I always look at how a team plays and I think Leicester have been very competitive. The results don’t necessarily show that, but I look back to the Manchester United game where I thought they were in the game and they had chances to score.
“And then the result is really deceiving, I think, and the overall strength of their team. And I think that’s been consistent for them.
“We know they’re dangerous. We know they’ve got good players. Jamie Vardy is still a massive threat. He brings his unique qualities that we’re going to need to control. Ruud’s got his team playing good football as well so we’re going to have to be on our guard. There’s no easy games at this level.”
