Sandro Tonali’s £135m warning to Newcastle doubters as dream team eye new aims

Sandro Tonali has sent a scary message to Premier League midfield units ahead of the top-flight run-in.

Ever since Eddie Howe switched Tonali from the number eight role and into the number six slot, Newcastle have barely looked back after pushing on to win the Carabao Cup and maintaining a healthy Champions League challenge. Tonali was spectacular in the 2-1 win over Brentford and capped his performance with a wonder goal from what looked like an impossible angle.

He has now warned that there is plenty of room for improvement and feels that he will get better along with Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton. It is a midfield three that has left Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley and Joe Willock with a tough task on their hands to get a start.

Tonali told Chronicle Live: “I was happy to play with Bruno and Jo because we play together every minute in the game. Not for the player, but we play for the midfield and for Newcastle before Bruno, before Tonali or Joelinton.

His Brentford stunner aside Tonali’s game has not been about goals this season in the main with four to his name from a defensive midfield role this season. However, he admits he gets more pleasure trying to create things and allowing 24-goal top scorer Alexander Isak inflict the damage on Premier League defences.
