Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been tipped to make an emotional return to Sheffield United amid uncertainty over his Everton future, with a dream Arsenal move off the table.
The 28-year-old has not featured for the Toffees since picking up yet another long-term injury in January, this time suffering a hamstring setback as the team got back to winning ways in recent weeks.
David Moyes has done brilliantly while back in charge at Everton, seeing the club move 15 points clear of the relegation zone, and rather unlikely to fall into the dropzone in the final few matches.
With little left to fight for now, attention has turned to the squad and who could be departing this summer, and Calvert-Lewin’s future is certainly on the agenda, given his current deal expires in a few months.
It is unclear exactly what The Friedkin Group have planned for the Everton striker, but Darren Bent believes the former Sheffield United striker could be the perfect signing at Bramall Lane.

“You bring him in as a natural striker, but Kai Havertz scores more goals than him. Do you know what’s a good one? Sheffield United, because that’s where he was.
“If Sheffield United get promoted, maybe he goes back there. He’s played there before.”

Sheffield United are now a serious threat to Leeds United in the chase for automatic promotion, with Burnley also growing into the title race with just a few matches remaining.
Only Leeds and the Clarets boast a better goal difference than the Blades this season, and it is certainly a three-horse race to see who claims automatic promotion and who drops into the play-offs.
If the Blades can make their way back into the Premier League, adding an experienced striker to their ranks for free would be an incredible move, and one that could save them from relegation straight away.
While Calvert-Lewin has struggled to hit the back of the net in recent seasons, being depended on for a team battling to stay out of the dropzone would be a new and exciting challenge for him.
Of course, some fans at Goodison Park will want the striker to sign a new deal before his current one expires, with TFG unlikely to splash loads of cash immediately, but he no longer seems to be an ideal option.
And while the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes may have drained away due to a lack of fit strikers their Champions League campaign is firing ahead after Declan Rice and Mikel Merino’s goals against Real Madrid, and Calvert-Lewin hardly looks like the answer this summer at the Emirates.
