Grealish has found regular football hard to come by this season at the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola often preferring to use Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva out wide.
The England international left Villa Park in a deal worth £100m and has won two Premier League titles with the Cityzens, penning a £300,000-a-week contract with Man City that is set to expire in 2027.
It’s believed that he could now be allowed to move during the summer window as Guardiola looks to strengthen the squad following a disappointing campaign, and Villa are said to be among the interested clubs in getting a deal done.
Villa strengthened their attacking department during the January transfer window by signing Donyell Malen permanently from Borussia Dortmund, while both Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio joined on loan until the end of the season.
Reports suggest the club have already decided that they want to sign Rashford permanently from Man Utd, with a £40m purchase option being present in the deal, but they could now look to bring in Grealish alongside him too. The finances of a deal make it difficult to do, but club chiefs are ‘dreaming’ of getting a deal done.
