‘We can rely on him’: Jason Tindall believes Jacob Murphy still isn’t getting the recognition he deserves

Everybody is talking about Jacob Murphy right now as the 30-year-old Newcastle United winger is in the form of his life.

Murphinho has nine goals and 13 assists in 31 games across all competitions this season, sitting behind only Liverpool’s Mo Salah in the assist charts with 11 to Salah’s 18.

It seems that not a game goes by recently that Jacob Murphy doesn’t pop up with at least one goal contribution.

A brace against Leicester City was followed by an assist against Manchester United, then he got one of each on Wednesday against Crystal Palace.

Jason Tindall heaped praise on Jacob Murphy in Friday’s presser

Jason Tindall took the opportunity to praise the winger in his Friday morning presser as he once again filled in for Eddie Howe.

“Jacob is behind [Mohamed] Salah in the assists this season. That says it all. What a season he is having.

“Full credit to Jacob. He’s been here a long time and if we’d signed him from Spain, Brazil or anywhere else in the world – he’d be receiving more plaudits than he is.

“His performances don’t surprise us. He works so hard on a day-to-day basis. As you can see. We can rely on him.”

Jacob Murphy actually seems to improve with each game

Murphy seems to add something new to his game each week. His crossing gets better with every passing game, but he’s also adding fancy footwork to his repertoire.

Against Man United, Murphy was skinning players left and right, something he’s never really been great at in the past.

Like Dan Burn, it seems Murphy is a late bloomer and we’re here for it all.
