SHOCKING video appears to show Rangers fans being battered by rival Spanish supporters.

A crowd of at least 20 hooded and masked Spanish fans lay into three helpless guys.

The victims, understood to be visiting Gers fans, are all punched and kicked in the brutal attack.

One is knocked to the ground and even kicked in the head during the horror assault.

While his pal is repeatedly smacked and even has his clothes torn off by the gang as he is held up by a shuttered doorway.

One of the trio manages to escape but only after being punched and kicked.

The video, thought to have been captured shortly before the big game on Thursday night, is doing the rounds on social media.

One watcher said: “This is just horrible to see.

“The masked guys are nothing but cowardly scumbags. Hope they are proud of themselves.”

The trouble kicked off outside a Lidl supermarket close to a spot where Athletico Bilbao fans gather before games. It’s also close to a police station.

It shows a huge gathering of the Spanish supporters standing in the street.

A smaller section peels off and starts attacking the three victims.

Most appear to be wearing the red and white of the Spanish side but some are also wearing green and white tops.  It’s been suggested that these are Celtic tops.

Local media claimed no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Despite the flare-up it’s claimed the build up to the game at the Estadio de San Mames was reasonably calm and friendly. But that all changed at full-time

Rangers lost the game 2-0 and were sent crashing out to the Europa League by the La Liga side.

It’s claimed cops from the local Erzaintza force were called in when both sets of fans clashed after the whistle.

Local reporters claimed hooded Bilbao fans hurled objects at officers who were forced to protect themselves with shields.

Twelve cops were injured  with one suffering a broken finger.

It’s understood two Scots were charged with public disorder alongside another four Spanish fans.

Before the game police officers had their holidays cancelled as the city steeled itself for as many as 5,000 Gers fans flooding in.
