“No, at the moment no. They’re happy with Watkins and he’s happy at the club. Then if a proposal comes, never say never – as it was the case in January.”
Arsenal pushed to sign Watkins during the January transfer window, with GIVEMESPORT sources confirming that a £60m bid was rejected by Aston Villa. The England international was said to be intrigued by a move to the Emirates Stadium, but a deal failed to materialise at the time.
It’s unclear whether the Gunners will make another move to secure his signature in the summer, but it’s important to say the prolific striker will turn 30 later this year. Watkins has provided 22 goals and assists combined in the Premier League this season, so there’s no doubt he’s still got what it takes to play at the highest level, but there could be concerns from interested clubs about paying a significant fee for an ageing player.
