After a 1-0 home defeat against Liverpool on Sunday, it was confirmed that Leicester City had been relegated from the Premier League in 2024/25. Or, as the club put it, ‘our place in the 25/26 Championship has been confirmed.’
Sitting 19th in the division, on 18 points after 33 games, having won just four matches all season, it has been a fairly miserable season for the Foxes. They have failed to score a home goal in their last nine league matches, looking completely toothless with Ruud van Nistelrooy calling the shots.
With relegation now confirmed, club legend Jamie Vardy has made his feelings known, absolutely tearing into Leicester’s season with a scathing rant which he shared online.

“For me personally, a total embarrassment”
In a message shared by way of apologising to the fans, the striker did not hold back as he slammed the club for what has been a ‘total embarrassment’ of a season. In full, he said:
“At this point I don’t even know what to say. No words I have can ever express my feelings of anger and sadness with the way this season has gone. There are no excuses.
“Collectively, as players and as a club, we failed. There is simply no hiding, and I refuse to entertain any suggestion of doing so.
“Having been at this club for so long, we’ve experienced so many highs and successes – and this season has been nothing but miserable and for me personally, a total embarrassment. ​​It hurts, and I know you’re feeling it too.”
“To the fans: I’m sorry. Sorry we haven’t performed and sorry we end the 2025 season with such a s**t show.”
