The 22-year-old has scored 12 goals for the Tractor Boys this season, emerging as one of the best young English forwards in the Premier League as a result.
Newcastle are interested in Delap, although they are far from alone in that.
Manchester United have been linked with Delap, who is understood to have a release clause worth around £30million in his contract at Portman Road.
Despite having one of the world’s best strikers in Alexander Isak on the books, it seems Newcastle have an interesting plan in mind.

Newcastle’s plan for Liam Delap amid transfer interest
Delap reportedly wants first-team football at his next club, which is certainly understandable.
After enjoying a breakthrough in difficult circumstances at the top level, the former Manchester City youngster would hardly want to go somewhere else just to sit on the bench.
Luckily, according to The Daily Telegraph, there is said to be a view from within St James’ Park that Delap and Isak could play alongside each other.
Newcastle are understood to have tracked Delap since his academy days at City and think his release clause offers good value for a proven Premier League striker.
Liam Delap stats this season
As mentioned, Delap has scored 12 Premier League goals this season but that does tell the full story.
Ipswich have only actually scored 33 times throughout the campaign, meaning the 22-year-old has bagged an impressive 36.6% of their goals.

Interestingly, only three Newcastle players (Dan Burn, Sven Botman and Joelinton) win more aerial duels per-game on average than the Ipswich forward.
With that in mind, he’d perhaps bring a more physical threat to the frontline. With Isak capable of dropping deep or wide, the thought of the two playing together is hugely exciting.
