Celtic can be crowned Scottish Premiership champions against Dundee United this weekend.
Avoiding defeat will be enough for Brendan Rodgers’ side to win the title for a 55th time.
Not only will Rodgers continue his reign as one of Celtic’s most successful managers, moving up to third in the rankings, but James Forrest will also become the Bhoys’ most decorated player in history with 26 major honours.
Tannadice is a familiar place for a title win when it comes to Celtic having won the league there on three other occasions (1981, 2008 and 2022).
2022 was the most recent success and the first title under Ange Postecoglou.
Giorgis Giakoumakis’ effort was cancelled out by Dylan Levitt but that wasn’t enough to spoil the party for the Hoops.
A brilliant team was put out that day and three years on, six of those that started are still playing at Celtic Park to this day.

The Celtic XI that started against Dundee United in 2022
Joe Hart – Retired
The man in-between the sticks that day, Hart enjoyed a brilliant first season in Glasgow and followed that up with two more years in goal.
Proved any doubters wrong when he first arrived and became a huge fan favourite. He is now working as a pundit and co-commentator, working on some of Celtic’s Champions League clashes for TNT Sports.
Anthony Ralston – Celtic
One of the many boyhood Celtic fans to come through at Lennoxtown, Ralston is still here and playing a part in the squad. He isn’t a regular, settling for a place on the bench behind Alistair Johnston but still offers plenty when required.
Cameron Carter-Vickers – Celtic
The heartbeat of central defence. Carter-Vickers has been near-faultless for the Hoops and continues to go from strength to strength. He’s likely to wrap up another league title to his name and will hopefully be at the club for a few more years yet.
Carl Starfelt – Celta Vigo
Somewhat underrated whilst in Glasgow, Starfelt was by no means perfect but still played a huge role. He eventually left to move to Spain, signing for Celta Vigo in August 2023, where he still is today.
Greg Taylor – Celtic
The third of the six still at Celtic from this XI, it may be the last time we can say that about Taylor.
Despite Chris Sutton’s pleas to keep Taylor, there is an air of resignation in the air, with Rodgers hinting the full-back is likely to depart this summer. A great servant nonetheless, whatever he chooses to do.
Reo Hatate – Celtic
Still here, still producing moments of magic, Hatate will be one of those of interest to clubs around Europe this summer, but it’s entirely plausible to see him to stay too.
His first season in Glasgow saw him win the league title after joining in January 2022 and he has plenty more trophies to his name.
Callum McGregor – Celtic
Our captain, our leader, you couldn’t imagine Callum McGregor anywhere else other than Celtic.
McGregor has hit double figures for the first time since 2019 this season and is seemingly getting better with age, as opposed to slowing down.
Matt O’Riley – Brighton & Hove Albion
A briliant player on his day, O’Riley is finally finding his feet at Brighton with some strong displays.
Injuries have hampered his first season on the South Coast but, as all Celtic supporters know, he is an excellent operator when fit.
James Forrest – Celtic
Like McGregor, James Forrest is also Mr Celtic.
Still at the club and with the chance to break two more records, at the age of 33, he will be here until the very end.
Giorgis Giakoumakis – Cruz Azul
The goal scorer on the day, the Greek centre-forward would actually go on to depart midway through the following season, heading to the USA to sign for Atlanta United.
There, he turned into a prolific goal scorer, registering 24 goals and seven assists in 43 matches in all competitions.
He’s now playing his football in Mexico, joining Cruz Azul in June 2024.
Liel Abada – Charlotte FC
The final one of the starting XI that day was Liel Abada. A tricky winger, Abada scored some huge goals, most notably his brace in the 3-0 win against Rangers – a night that will give opposition defender Borna Barisic nightmares forever.
Abada left the Hoops in March 2024 to sign for MLS outfit Charlotte FC and has been with them ever since.
