Celtic and Rangers eyeing Scottish Premiership rising star
Both Celtic and Rangers have ‘checked out’ the possibility of signing rising Scottish Premiership star James Wilson of Hearts this summer. Both clubs are eager to add more homegrown talent to their rosters and the young striker has been turning heads this season.
According to Chronicle Live, the Glasgow duo are keen on Wilson but face competition from Premier League side Newcastle United. The Magpies have reportedly ‘stepped up’ their recruitment drive with visits to Dundee United, Motherwell, Aberdeen and St Mirren in recent weeks.
Wilson has established himself as a regular for the Jambos this season and has scored six times for the senior team. The 18-year-old has already been capped by Scotland has therefore alerted other clubs around him and across the border.
While Celtic and Rangers will be a very attractive destination for the young Scottish star, Newcastle also have some pulling power. Eddie Howe and his side are on track to secure Champions League football next season, as they currently sit third in the Premier League table. Pundit backs Rangers post-takeover transfer
Kevin Nisbet, who is currently enjoying a loan spell with Aberdeen away from Millwall, has been backed as a ‘good fit’ for Rangers once they start their summer recruitment.
With the takeover pending, Gers fans can start to get excited about new transfer strategies being implemented, especially as Leeds United are currently one match away from winning the EFL Championship.
Former Rangers star Craig Moore recently discussed the future of Nisbet, whose contract with Millwall is due to expire in 2026.
“I think he is 28 and there is talk of potentially Aberdeen might not being able to afford him from Millwall or money might be an issue,” Moore told Go Radio.
“Again, I think it would be a good fit for Rangers, if they are looking, which I am sure they are looking at every single position. Took his goal brilliantly at the weekend. He is coming back on himself, and his anticipation in terms of just to sometimes stand still, but to come back and volley finish it the way he did.”
