It is £50 for the majority of adult tickets for the Scottish Cup Final.
That is the figure most Celtic and Aberdeen fans will be asked to pay to see their team at Hampden on May 25.
But that’s just for the supporters who are lucky enough to get a ticket for Scotland’s showcase game.
Many Celtic fans will be scrambling with Aberdeen putting up the funds to guarantee a near 50/50 split.
With Aberdeen looking to land their first Scottish Cup in 35 years there is every likelihood the game will be a sell-out.
The Scottish Football Association has frozen the prices from last season’s final.
£50 is the price for most seats although there are some are priced at £40. Yes, there are concessions for over 65s and under-16s but the general prices are high.
But even after the concessions there are others that fall through the hole.
I have a youngster still at school who is over the age of 16. He will have to pay the full £50 adult price.
It is not just for this cup final but it is also the same for Scotland men’s national team games, even when buying his season ticket for each qualifying campaign.
Surely that is something the SFA need to look at as they look to protect the future lifeblood of the game?
Celtic recently complained to Scottish Professional Football League chiefs when Dundee United put some of their prices up to £42 for their title-deciding game last month.
United claimed it was to cover the additional costs, including extra stewarding and policing for that game.
Celtic’s gripe was that tickets for their fans were being put up while United were offering cut-price deals for Dundee United season ticket holders to take additional fans to the game.
The response was Celtic’s fans throwing tangerines and footballs onto the Tannadice pitch, causing the game to be temporarily delayed.
The price to see their team in the cup final will be £8 more than the top price at Tannadice.
Are we now getting to the stage where some Scottish games are getting too expensive?
Yes, it might be cheap in comparison to prices at the English Premier League or Champions League.
But in these competitions you are seeing the very best of the best.
The SFA might also be cheap when it comes to other big sporting or musical events.
Don’t even mention Oasis’ ticket prices or even the fees to see live bands at Hampden!
I suppose it comes down to good old economics. Supply and demand.
As long as there is a demand then ticket prices will continue to go up, like everything else in everyday life.
I remember back in 2014-15 there was the 20 is plenty campaign. Now that seems to be a drop in the ocean to the growing prices a decade later.
In fairness, a lot of attendances in Scottish grounds are on the up. We want to keep that going.
It is the only way we can move our game forward because it is one of the best supported in Europe-per-head of population.
There are also a lot of clubs who have great initiatives and deals on offer to get more supporters through the turnstiles.
