Brendan Rodgers brushed aside questions about Rangers’ potential US-led takeover with a pointed reminder of Celtic’s current dominance ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

The Celtic boss was asked to weigh in on the American consortium poised to acquire a 51% stake in Rangers, led by health tycoon Andrew Cavanagh and featuring 49ers Enterprises, who also control Leeds United. The group toured Ibrox on Tuesday, as plans for a summer overhaul at the trophyless club gather pace.

But Rodgers, focused firmly on his own team’s success, dismissed the timing of the question with trademark sharpness.
“Talk to me in the summer on that,” Brendan Rodgers said on Friday during his press conference, with CeltsAreHere in attendance.
“We’re not even finished this season yet.
“You know, I know there’s not a lot for you to write about or talk about or speak about.
“Speak about this season first. Speak about how good Celtic have been and how consistent we’ve been and how our mentality has been really good. And how this group of players, despite some knockbacks, they keep going and they keep fighting and they keep running and they keep working.
“And we can speak about next season then.”
With Ibrox looming on Sunday and Celtic aiming to end their derby campaign on a high, Rodgers is keeping all focus where it belongs — on the pitch.
And on the pitch, Celtic have won four league titles in a row, and are looking at winning five consecutive trophies, should they beat Aberdeen at Hampden Park. Brendan Rodgers guided the Hoops to a double in his first season back, the first time in the Celtic dugout that he’s not won every domestic trophy available to him.
Next season, when the boss enters his final year at Parkhead, he’ll be hoping to set out and defend a treble, and look to retain it.
