SKYSPORT HAS REVEALED WHY RANGERS FANS WERE THROWING BOTTLE AT CELTIC STAR AS SPFL CONFIRMS INVESTIGATIONS

A glass bottle was among the objects thrown onto the pitch at Ibrox as Rangers took on Celtic in the final Old Firm clash of the season.

Celtic goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo was spotted clearing items from his goalmouth early in the second-half.

The game was finely poised at 1-1 when Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker said that it appeared objects bad been thrown towards the Celtic goalkeeper.

Footage then showed Sinisalo removing what appeared to be a bottle and some plastic drinking cups from his goal area.

A further piece of footage then showed a glass Buckfast bottle had been lobbed onto the park as well and was lying within the box.

Rangers substitute Neraysho Kasanwirjo was then seen running onto the pitch to remove the bottle himself.

Images also show the Dutch defender also removing another plastic cup.

What appears to be a disposable vape could also been seen lying on the ground as Kasanwirjo removed the bottle and cup.

Earlier this year, Rangers were rapped by Uefa after a vape was thrown onto the park during the Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.

The Turkish side’s goalkeeper Irfan Can Egribayat was seen holding the item in his hand after it landed close to him.

It’s a fixture that in recent times too has seen all too many of these situations.

Objects appeared to be thrown towards Rangers substitutes as they celebrated Hamza Igamane‘s winning goal at Celtic Park in the last derby meeting.

A year ago, Celtic released a furious statement after a glass bottle was thrown towards midfielder Matt O’Riley during another derby encounter.

It landed on the pitch just yards away from the now former Hoops star after he scored a penalty.

On that occasion, the Hoops blasted: “It has been confirmed today that a glass bottle was thrown at Matt O’Riley at yesterday’s match.

“The repeated targeting of our players and staff with missiles is quite appalling and completely unacceptable.

“We have already raised our serious concerns with Rangers and understand that police are investigating the matter.”
