After a sensational winning for Chelsea against Liverpool, Bruno Guimaraes has a message to the fans

Bruno Guimaraes has pleaded with Newcastle United supporters to create an “unforgettable atmosphere” against Chelsea next weekend.

Next weekend’s clash at St James’ Park has all the hallmarks of a Premier League classic. Both clubs are level on points heading into the final three games and pushing for Champions League football.

The Magpies are slightly in front on goal difference and boast a stellar recent home record over Chelsea. However, a high-stakes, winner-takes-all clash will raise the pressure levels on Tyneside.

A draw at Brighton kept Newcastle ticking over but Chelsea defeated a heavily changed Liverpool. Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest are also breathing down United’s necks for a top-five spot.

Attention now turns to a monumental game on Sunday with one of Newcastle’s main rivals for Champions League football. Rallying his black-and-white troops, Toon skipper Gumaraes called upon fans to create a hostile environment.

“Another important point given the circumstances,” he wrote on social media following the Brighton game. “We keep pushing toward our goal. Your support will be vital next Sunday – let’s create an unforgettable atmosphere. Howay the lads!”

Eddie Howe focused on Newcastle United – not Chelsea

Eddie Howe also admitted he is “human” and favours results for certain teams in football but does not obsess over other clubs. When asked about Chelsea, he added: “Naturally, you watch our position and you want results that favour your position. I’m human. But I don’t try to get all emotional in that.
