West Ham star won’t answer transfer phone call after London Stadium exit confirmed

The Hammers released a club statement at the end of last week confirming that the shot-stopper would end his seven year stay at the club come the end of the 2024/25 campaign. The goalkeeper has largely played a back-up role to Alphonse Areola in recent seasons but did briefly regain the number one spot under Julen Lopetegui this season.
Fabianski has made 16 appearances in all competitions this term but has now not played in the league since January. In total, he has enjoyed 215 outings for the Hammers, the most appearances he has made at any club.
West Ham confirm release of veteran goalkeeper
The West Ham statement read: “West Ham United can confirm that Aaron Cresswell, Łukasz Fabiański, Vladimír Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the Club when their contracts expire at the end of the 2024/25 season.
“The four members of our 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League-winning squad all played their part in one of the most successful periods in West Ham United’s history, and will depart having made a combined total of more than 800 first-team appearances between them.
“Fabiański, who recently celebrated his 40th birthday, achieved the same feat, winning the Hammer of the Year award in 2019 after joining from Swansea City the previous summer. The Polish international goalkeeper has played 215 times so far in his seven seasons at the Club.”
Adding his thanks, West Ham manager Graham Potter said: “As the Club’s statement said, they’ve all made an amazing contribution and been part of a really successful period for the Club.
“They’ve conducted themselves impeccably, certainly from my time here. I can only speak highly of them. They’ve been fantastic professionals on and off the pitch. They’re all really good people, who have had a fantastic career, and we obviously wish them well in the next stage of their career.”
Lukasz Fabianski doesn’t answer to former club
Fabianski is now 40 years old but has proven this season that he can still play at the top level. His upcoming release from West Ham will have piqued the interest of clubs on the continent.
However, Legia Warsaw sporting director Michał Żewłakow has told Canal+ Sport that his calls to Fabianski to make that a reality have been ignored. As relayed by Gol 24, he said: “To be honest, I called, but there was no contact. I made the move. He didn’t pick up.”
