Leeds United are preparing for their upcoming Premier League season with a busy summer.

Daniel Farke’s side deservedly won the Championship as they cruised to promotion back to the top-flight.

Now the task for the Peacocks is to remain there, which will no doubt be a daunting task.

Leeds have already begun preparations for the upcoming season as the Yorkshire club prepares for a big summer ahead.

Leeds organise friendly with Champions League outfit Villarreal

Many of the Elland Road faithful are intrigued about who they will face in pre-season, as it gives supporters a chance to see the Yorkshire club’s new signings in action for the first time.

A match against Manchester United has already been organised in Stockholm, as Farke’s side can test themselves against Premier League opposition.

Now, Leeds have organised a friendly against Spanish and Champions League outfit Villarreal.

The two sides have met each other recently in pre-season, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw before the 2021/22 campaign.

Now, Leeds are set to welcome Villarreal to Elland Road, with the fixture set to take place on 2 August.

This will no doubt be an exciting opportunity for fans to go and watch a club that has had recent European success.

Villarreal will likely finish fifth this season and boast players such as Nicolas Pepe and Denis Suarez in their squad.

Supporters may also see Alfonso Pedraza return to the stadium after the full-back spent some time on loan at Leeds back in 2017.

Leeds’ difficult pre-season friendlies are exactly what they need

So far, Leeds’ friendlies are exactly what they need. Both Man United and Villarreal will pose a tough challenge in the build-up to the start of the campaign.

Here, Farke will be able to assess where his squad is weakest and will still have time to fix it in the transfer window.

While friendlies against weaker opponents are no doubt needed to ensure morale doesn’t drop, Leeds need to have an early reality check on the level of opposition they will be playing next season.
