Romero, who has two years left on his contract, has now been directly asked about his future, and the centre-back decided to keep his cards close to his chest, insisting that it is not up to him to clarify the things that are written about his future in the press.
When asked about the rumours of a possible departure from Spurs this summer, the centre-back said (via TyC Sports): “I can’t stop the things that are said outside the club, nor can I be constantly clarifying them.
“I always gave my all to this shirt, and here at the club, they show me that they love me very much. I love this club very much. I achieved a huge goal because Tottenham haven’t lifted a trophy in many years.”

Speaking about the Europa League win, the centre-back said: “It was a tough season for us. We deserved to finish like this because nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors at the club.
“Beyond everything, we always put our best foot forward. We had too many injuries and there was always bad talk about this team, the coach, and today we shut a lot of mouths.”
