Everton open talks over playmaker compared to Bruno Fernandes

Everton have been fairly busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

The Toffees have made two signings so far this summer, landing forward Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille and midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa.

Everton have also sold defender Ben Godfrey and forward Lewis Dobbin to Atalanta and Aston Villa respectively.

With PSR concerns behind them, the Toffees can focus on making more signings, and a third could now be on the cards.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Everton are in negotiations over a player who has been likened to Manchester United and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes

Everton in talks over Jesper Lindstrom

The player in question is Napoli midfielder Jesper Lindstrom, and Romano says Everton have opened talks with the Serie A club

Lindstrom is the “next top target” for Sean Dyche, and Napoli are open to selling him if they get a good proposal.

In the same post, Romano went on to play down links between Everton and Hellas Verona winger Jackson Tcatchoua.

Who is Everton target Jesper Lindstrom?

Jesper Lindstrom is a 24-year-old professional footballer who can play in attacking midfield and on the wings.

As well as plying his trade for Napoli, he represents Denmark at international level, and has won 16 caps for his country.

Lindstrom got his big break in 2021 when he joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Brondby, and two years later he was on the move to Napoli.

He has struggled for game time in southern Italy, however, with just 587 minutes under his belt, and is yet to score or assist any goals.

Lindstrom could certainly do with a fresh start elsewhere where he can return to the levels he reached at Frankfurt, with 28 goal contributions from 80 outings.

The official Bundesliga website has compared the reported Everton target to Germany international Julian Draxler.

Lindstrom previously described his game as follows: “In general I like to play up front but can also play on the wings.

“I’ve got a strong shot on me from distance and I like to link up play in the penalty area.”

Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout compared Lindstrom to Bruno Fernandes in 2021, and gave him a potential rating of 9 out of 10.
