Premier League announcement sees Leeds United given new Jack Harrison timeline

Jack Harrison is something of a forgotten man at Leeds United, having been on the club’s books since 2021 but not actually playing for the club since the 2022/23 season.
Jack Harrison has just finished a second season on loan at Everton. In that time the former Man City winger made 63 Premier League appearances for the Toffees, scoring four goals and claiming three assists.

It proved to be a very mixed time at Goodison Park for the 28-year-old, especially his 2024/25 season. Everton fans were unimpressed with Harrison throughout the campaign and there was ongoing murmurs of him potentially returning to Elland Road early, though Daniel Farke showed no interest in a return for the Englishman.
And Harrison has suggested that he wants to stay at Everton beyond this season, despite having another three years to run on his current contract at Elland Road.
To add to the confusion over his future in West Yorkshire, it’s been reported more than once that Harrison could return to Leeds United this summer and play a role for Farke’s side in the upcoming 2025/26 Premier League season.

Leeds United will play Everton on the opening day of the 2025/26 season
The 2025/26 Premier League fixtures were released on Wednesday. Upon their return to the top flight after a two-year hiatus, Leeds United play Everton at home, and for Harrison, that might well be the worst opening day draw he could’ve hoped for.
Wanting to join Everton, but seemingly stuck at Leeds United where he might even feel forced to play for the club next season, even on the opening day against the Toffees, the fixtures announcement could prompt Farke and Harrison to decide what’s next for the player, well before the opening day of the season.
Harrison played a key role in the Whites’ 2019/20 promotion-winning season under Marcelo Bielsa. And he proved to be influential in the Premier League too scoring eight goals in each of the club’s first two seasons back in the top flight.

David Moyes’ demand to Jack Harrison surely means he won’t sign for Everton
Both Sean Dyche and then David Moyes gave mixed verdicts of Harrison’s form throughout the season.
Though both managers showed faith in Harrison who eventually featured 34 times in the Premier League last season, scoring once and ending the season with zero assists.
And those numbers may mean that Moyes snubs a potential deal for Harrison this summer. Speaking earlier in the year, Moyes demanded more goals and assists from Harrison, saying of the Leeds man and also Jesper Lindstrom: “I think both have done well but I need goals from them, I need assists from them. They both need to improve greatly on that.”
For Leeds and for Farke, Harrison might be a useful player to keep around for the time being, and see who else the club can sign in his position. There’s no doubt that he’s an experienced player but he showed very little quality at Everton last time round.
But for Harrison, knowing that Leeds face Everton on the first day of the new season might prompt him to want a quick resolution to where he ends up playing for next season.
