What Jack Grealish posted ahead of England’s 3-0 win against Wales summed up his stand-off with Thomas Tuchel.
Strikes from Ollie Watkins, Morgan Rogers and Bukayo Saka helped England to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley on Thursday as the Three Lions now look ahead to the World Cup qualifier away at Latvia on Tuesday.
There were several notable omissions from Tuchel’s squad ahead of the match, with Phil Foden, Kyle Walker, Jude Bellingham and Grealish all left out of the 24-man group that was named ahead of the international break last week.
Grealish missing out raised a few eyebrows, especially from Everton fans who have been impressed with the winger since the completion of his season-long loan switch to the Toffees.

In seven Premier League appearances for the Merseyside club, Grealish has produced four assists and one goal – a late winner in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on October 5.

Despite his impressive form, the Birmingham-born 30-year-old faces an uphill task to impress Tuchel ahead of the World Cup next summer and faces competition from the likes of Anthony Gordon, Eberechi Eze and Marcus Rashford for a spot on the Three Lions’ left flank – although he is comfortable playing in a more central role.
Speaking about Grealish after leaving him out of the squad, Tuchel explained how there is “always a way back into the camp” and that the winger is “on his way to be the best version of himself”.

Grealish, who boasts 39 caps but has not played for England since October 2024, claimed that being left out isn’t “as deep as everyone says” following his winner against Palace despite maintaining that he wanted to return to the national team.
“I’m doing well also, but the people picked last month did really well in the two games, so that’s fine with me,” Grealish told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“That’s the manager’s decision and I fully respect that.”

Then last night, just minutes before England’s victory, the 30-year-old reposted an Instagram post by Everton’s official account detailing one of his own quotes.
“There’s no better feeling in life than to feel loved – Evertonians certainly make me feel like that,” the quote read.
Whether the timing of the post was a coincidence or a subtle message to Tuchel is unclear, but one thing is for sure: Grealish isn’t going to go down without a fight.
The winger is unable to play in Everton’s next Premier League match against Manchester City on October 18 due to them being his parent club, but will return to the Toffees’ line-up against Spurs on October 26.

Jack Grealish was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad despite a fine start to the season.
Jack Grealish has revealed what Thomas Tuchel told him as he addressed his latest England snub for the first time.
Despite a fine run of form at Everton which saw him named Premier League Player of the Month for August, Grealish was left out of Tuchel’s squad for games against Wales and Latvia.
Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Adam Wharton also missed out for the upcoming fixtures.

His last appearance for his first country was nearly a year ago against Finland in the Nations League and the former Aston Villa man is struggling to earn a recall.
Ahead of Everton’s visit of Crystal Palace on Sunday, Grealish was was asked by former teammate Micah Richards about being left out once again and offered an honest response.
“First of all you want to play well for your club because that’s what we do every week but obviously you want to be in the England squad,” Grealish said on Sky Sports.

“But I do understand it. I spoke to the manager and I understand there’s a lot of competition, especially in that left wing spot at the moment – Rashy’s [Marcus Rashford] flying, [Eberechi] Eze, Anthony Gordon – everyone’s doing so well.
“I can’t really complain, it is what it is and hopefully I can keep performing and influencing games.”
In his press conference, Tuchel had described Grealish as “a very special player” who is “very close to being the best version of himself”.
But he and his staff didn’t want to make any changes from the last training camp, electing to “keep with the straightforward decision of inviting the same group”.

Bukayo Saka replacing the injured Noni Madueke is the only change from the last squad, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Jarell Quansah named after coming in as late replacements last time out.
Everton had a swift response to Grealish not making the cut, quickly retweeting a graphic which showed he had created more chances than any other player in the Premier League going into the latest matchday.
Grealish responded by the sharing the club’s reel of his best bits on his Instagram story.

Everton have taken a clear dig at England manager Thomas Tuchel following his decision not to include Jack Grealish in the latest squad.
Following each Premier League club playing their seventh match of the season, the second international break of the season will now take place over the coming days.
England face Wales in a friendly match to begin their international break before travelling to Riga to face Latvia in the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ahead of the matches, new England boss Tuchel named his 24-man squad, notably leaving out some key names like Grealish, who has continued to improve sine joining Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
And after Grealish played a key role in Everton’s latest win over Crystal Palace, the club have sent a clear message to Tuchel about his decision to snub their star player.

On Sunday afternoon, Everton claimed a statement win as they putting an end Crystal Palace‘s impressive 19-game unbeaten run with a 2-1 win at their new Hill Dickinson stadium.

Although the visitors boasted a the lead through Daniel Munoz, a penalty scored Iliman Ndiaye set the scene for Grealish who found the back of the net in the dying moments of the match, earning himself the Player of The Match Award in the process.
His performance in the match added further fuel to arguments made by fans claiming that Grealish deserved to be included in Tuchel’s squad for the upcoming England matches, leading Everton to speak out.
In a simple post on X immediately after the match, the official club social media account wrote: “Updated the bio.”
