Newcastle United entertained Brighton and Hove Albion at St. James’ Park earlier this afternoon as they hoped to earn a win at home in the Premier League. The Magpies made a dominant start to the contest but conceded the opening goal in the 35th minute when Danny Welbeck scored with a good finish. The Tyneside club failed to come up with a response and went into the half-time break 1-0 down on the scoreline.
Eddie Howe’s men failed to find the leveler in the second 45 minutes and crashed to a lackluster 1-0 loss in front of their home fans.

He made a few crucial saves at the back but couldn’t do much to stop Welbeck’s strike in the first half.

Livramento failed to keep things solid at the back and was underwhelming going forward.

He got stuck in with a few crunching tackles and was good on the ball.
CB: Dan Burn – 6/10
Burn earned possession back a few times but failed to keep a clean sheet.

LB: Lewis Hall – 7/10
Hall was a positive influence at both ends of the field.
CM: Sandro Tonali – 6.5/10
He anchored the midfield well but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 7/10
Guimaraes came back to defend when he could and was lively in the opponent’s half.
CM: Joelinton – 7/10
Joelinton worked his socks off at both ends of the field.
RW: Jacob Murphy – 6/10
He caught the eye at times on the right flank but failed to register a goal.
ST: Alexander Isak – 6.5/10
Isak was not shy of having a strike at goal but didn’t have his finishing boots on this afternoon.
LW: Anthony Gordon – 7/10
He was a real menace in the final third and was replaced late in the game.
