Alexander Isak sends Arsenal message after Newcastle defeat

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak reiterated his pleasure at being with the North East club after scoring the winner against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Swedish striker scored the only goal of the game as he rose highest to power home Anthony Gordon’s cross in the first half. The Gunners’ best chances in the second 45 minutes fell to Declan Rice who saw one shot deflected wide while his header dropped agonisingly wide of the far post.
While Manchester City also fell to defeat at the weekend, Liverpool’s victory leaves Mikel Arteta’s side seven points adrift of the leaders which is already some mountain to climb, even at this early stage of the campaign. Arsenal’s blunt attacking threat at St James’ Park was yet another reminder of their need to sign a striker if they are to be a serious threat in the title race.
Isak is one of the players linked with a move to North London but he has always previously denied interest in leaving Newcastle in the near future. He proved that again on Saturday as he celebrated the victory over Arsenal on social media.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Three big points and a brilliant atmosphere today.” The post was accompanied by a selection of pictures celebrating with teammates Gordon and Joelinton as well as the fans.
While Isak is a tremendous talent, there is clearly a strength of feeling between him and Newcastle which would be hard to break in the transfer window. Unfortunately for Arsenal, the amount of top quality strikers available to purchase is small.

Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres has also been tipped with Arsenal but Ruben Amorim’s impending arrival at Manchester United could make it difficult for Arteta to secure that deal.
