A move to Newcastle in January has always felt unlikely for Semenyo, and now Toon officials are aware of how much they would have to pay to bring him to St James’ Park.
According to iNews, Bournemouth will command a fee of more than £60million to sell Antoine Semenyo during the January transfer window.
That would make him one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever, in between £55million Sandro Tonali and £63million Alexander Isak.
Given Newcastle’s PSR concerns, that price tag will surely make it impossible for Paul Mitchell to bring Semenyo to Tyneside. iNews add that Newcastle have not made contact to sign the attacker.

Understandably, Bournemouth are extremely reluctant to sell one of their best players midway through the season. If Semenyo is going to go, the Cherries are going to get a huge fee for him.
It is the type of fee that Newcastle are simply not going to pay, as Mitchell sets about making the Magpies much smarter in the transfer market.
iNews add that Newcastle have discussed signing players from overseas during recent recruitment meetings, with high potential players under the age of 21 on the agenda.
If Newcastle are going to get value for money, they need to look further afield. While those types of deals represent a risk, it is a risk worth taking given the Magpies’ need for reinforcements.
