Aston Villa tipped to accept ‘ridiculous’ John Duran bid amid transfer news

Aston Villa could accept a “ridiculous” offer for Jhon Duran with Napoli interested.

As reported by IL Mattino [17 December], the Serie A giants want to sign Duran after being “bewitched” by the striker. Discussions are already underway and have so far been described as “frantic”.

Napoli are hopeful of completing a deal around the £30million price mark, despite recent suggestions that Duran is now worth as much as £80million after his performances this season.

Duran has been the subject of interest from various clubs in recent months, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain [via Fichajes, 7 November] also having been linked.

However, ex-Villa scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – doesn’t think Unai Emery’s side should consider selling the Colombian unless a big amount of money is involved.

“Villa shouldn’t be listening to offers for Duran,” King said.

“At least not until they know how far they can go in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League this season. Duran has only just signed a new contract at Villa Park.

“I wouldn’t be listening to any offers for him, unless it was a ridiculous offer of course, then they would have to consider it. However, if Villa want to progress, they need to keep these kinds of players.”
Aston Villa to consider “ridiculous” offers for Jhon Duran?

Duran is Villa’s top scorer this season, despite starting on the bench in most matches, and has come up with some really important goals for the club.

After Duran’s recent displays, Ollie Watkins could be on the chopping block, demonstrating just how much of an impact the 21-year-old is having at the club. Therefore, Villa won’t want to lose the forward, and certainly not for a fee of just £30million.

However, if a much bigger offer were to come in, Villa would certainly then have a decision to make.

In other Aston Villa news, the club are in a scrap to sign another striker amid a Chelsea development.
