Former striker Troy Deeney believes Arsenal should “just sign” Alexander Isak to guarantee the Premier League title.
The Swede has netted seven from his past five games to move up to fourth in the goalscoring charts. Isak still trails Golden Boot favourite Mohamed Salah by five but his recent run has placed him firmly back into the running.
While Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer have netted more, only Salah boasts a better goals per 90 minutes ratio than Isak. A stunning hat-trick at Ipswich Town was followed by another strike against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

The 25-year-old downplayed speculation over his future earlier this year, with reports claiming Arsenal were monitoring the situation. Isak told Swedish media: “Throughout my career, I have never commented on rumours during the season (regarding reported transfer interest). There have been many such years where that (moving clubs) has been talked about.
“It doesn’t affect me. My situation at Newcastle? I have never had any problem there and I am fully focused on my task there, that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that and I have no thoughts about anything else.
“Much of what I read (about myself) is not true. That is all I can say about the whole thing. The only thing I can say is that a lot of information and rumours often come out. Much of what I read is not true. So that’s about all I can say about the whole thing.”
Former Watford striker Deeney has now urged the Gunners to sign Isak – insisting he would win them the Premier League. When picking his team of the week, he told BBC Sport: “Back again, the man, the myth, Mr Isak. He’s the best striker in the Premier League currently. Arsenal, just sign him and you’ll win the league. It’s really not that difficult.”
