Jamie Carragher makes bold 2025 prediction for Newcastle United but Gary Neville disagrees

Newcastle United ended 2024 on a high after winning five consecutive games across all competitions.
The festive period turned out to be a huge success for Newcastle United with the Magpies ending December with an emphatic 2-0 win over Manchester United on Monday evening.
Alexander Isak was superb at Old Trafford and joined Joelinton on the scoresheet to pick up a ninth Premier League win of the season. Newcastle will now end the year in fifth place in the Premier League table.
Eddie Howe is expected to qualify for Europe this season and Newcastle are well on track to achieving that goal after their superb run of form.
However, there is still plenty to play for in 2025, including potential silverware with Newcastle facing Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals in January.

Jamie Carragher predicts where Newcastle United will finish the season
After beating Manchester United on Monday, Jamie Carragher raved about Isak, hailing him as one of the “best in Europe”.
With the Premier League now at its halfway point, Jamie Carragher and fellow pundit Gary Neville were asked for their predictions when the season ends in the summer of 2025.
Via Sky Sports, Carragher predicted that Newcastle will finish fifth in the 2024/25 Premier League season. He believes the Magpies will finish below Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
However, Neville believes Newcastle will not even finish inside the top six with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest finishing fifth and sixth in his predictions.
Newcastle United are on track for Champions League qualification
Howe and Newcastle will be desperate to return to the Champions League after competing in the prestigious European tournament in the 2023/24 campaign.
Traditionally, only the top four positions in the Premier League qualify for the Champions League, but the competition’s new format means that two wildcard positions are handed out to the best-performing nations.

As it stands, the Premier League has a 98.5% chance of being handed a fifth qualification spot. Ultimately, it will be decided by the English teams still competing in Europe this season.
With Newcastle currently in fifth position at the halfway point of the season, Champions League qualification is still very much on the cards.
