Everton to send Harrison to Leeds for Philogene from Aston Villa’

Everton should send Jack Harrison back to Leeds United so the club can sign Jaden Philogene from Aston Villa, according to fans.

The 28-year-old has been a regular starter for Sean Dyche and started in their loss against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (29 December).

However, the Leeds United loanee has failed to impress as he has not scored or assisted a single goal this season.

He’s faced criticism from fans before, particularly during the match against Chelsea on 22 December when he missed a crucial chance in a goalless draw.

The supporters have singled him out again as Everton are now linked with Philogene from Aston Villa.

The Merseyside club are one of many interested in signing him [The Athletic] but they have already reached the limit of two domestic loans.

This means one of Armando Broja or Harrison would need to have their loan cancelled for the Toffees to make room for Philogene, and fans have been quick to call for Harrison’s departure.

With new owners at the helm as The Friedkin Group took over from Farhad Moshiri, this transfer window could be pivotal in winning over fans early on.

Football Insider revealed that Everton have identified two priority signings for the January transfer window.

However, they won’t be able to make domestic loan signings unless one of their current loanees is released.

The club have struggled with profit and sustainability rules (PSR) issues in recent seasons, even facing a points deduction.

Despite these challenges, Dyche has managed to steer the team through surviving relegation.

The new owners are expected to alleviate these financial pressures by injecting equity into the club, helping to avoid further PSR complications—for now.

That said, this doesn’t imply a spending spree. With Harrison being a player Dyche clearly trusts, it seems unlikely the club will cancel his loan.

This marks his second stint at Everton, where he has managed a disappointing four goals and three assists in 54 appearances.

Such inconsistent output has left many fans frustrated. One fan, reacting to the Philogene rumours, called on the club to “send Harrison back now” while another urged the new owners to take decisive action, commenting, “Moshiri would have made Jack Harrison permanent”.

Others remain less hopeful, with some fans doubting Philogene’s potential impact, stating he “isn’t better than what we have”. Another expressed scepticism about the situation, saying, “I can’t see Sean Dyche allowing that” in reference to cancelling Harrison’s loan.
