Worry for Aston Villa as player hasn’t returned from injury – Frustration over situation
Leon Bailey joined AS Roma on loan from Aston Villa in the summer. So far, he is yet to make his debut.
The Jamaica international picked up a muscle injury in his very first training session with the Italian side. Since then, there’s been endless conflicting claims about when he could return to full fitness.

The club’s sporting director Frederic Massara ironed out a difficult deal with Aston Villa in the summer. After difficult negotiations, the parties agreed a €2m loan with a €22m option to buy.
The winger was expected to add more pace to the Roma attack but the wait is ongoing and appears to be getting longer. Bailey has spent two months injured, even though he was expected to be out for around 40 days.
He is now going to miss the next two games against Lille and Fiorentina. Bailey could be on the bench against Inter Milan on October 19th, but it’s far from certain.
Gian Piero Gasperini has identified a spot for him in the side yet the time frame for recovery is still unclear.
The 28-year-old faced muscle problems at Aston Villa, so it’s easy to see why Roma are being cautious. For Aston Villa, it’s the last thing they’ll have wanted. Even if Bailey returns quickly and impresses, it presents further questions over his fitness and therefore value.
