Wrexham join race to sign teenage goal machine, he’s already been on trial at Celtic twice
Wrexham have been linked with a whole host of experienced heads in the early days of this summer transfer window, but youngsters are wanted too.
Wrexham are looking for new signings and many targets share one thing in common – they are over 30.

Wrexham could look even younger, though, with one teenage prospect now being touted as a potential target.
Wrexham linked with Cliftonville’s Shay Reid
News Letter in Northern Ireland report that Wrexham are interested in signing Cliftonville striker Shay Reid.
Reid is only 16, so he would certainly be viewed as one for the future at the STōK Cae Ras.
It’s stated that Reid was the top scorer in the Under-20 Premiership Development League in Northern Ireland this past season, scoring 23 times in 32 games.
Reid also scored 21 goals in 25 Under-18 games, racking up goals at every level so far in his young career.
Wrexham are now interested, but face competition from Championship rivals Preston North End.
Aberdeen fancy taking Reid to Scotland, with the race for the teenager’s signature already starting ahead of his 17th birthday in July.

Wrexham snapped up Yassine Toure this past season and may look to bring in more youngsters for the future.
Teenage prospects may be more willing to join the Wrexham project with Premier League football now just one promotion away.
Reid could be one such signing, but the biggest competition Wrexham face may come from Scottish giants Celtic.
Reid has been on trial with Celtic not once, but twice having attracted attention in Northern Ireland.
Belfast Live reported in February that Reid went on trial with Celtic last summer, and they brought him back to Glasgow earlier this year.
Celtic certainly appear to be very interested in Reid, and those trial spells may give the Bhoys an early advantage over Wrexham in the race for his signature.
Kairat Almaty Make Champions League History With Dramatic Win Over Celtic
Kairat Almaty, a team from the Kazakhstan Premier League, will play in the Champions League league phase this season after Rafael Urazbakhtin’s side defeated Celtic in a historic penalty shoot-out.
It was a night to remember for the Kazakh minnows as they secured a £40 million prize pot and a place in the group stage of Europe’s elite competition.
Coming into Tuesday night’s play-off second leg, Brendan Rodgers’ side were expected to reach the next stage of the Champions League with ease, even after last week’s dismal performance in a 0-0 draw at Parkhead.

But after making the gruelling 3,500-mile trip to Kazakhstan, Celtic struggled again and were soon knocked out on penalties, with 21-year-old goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov making three crucial saves in the shoot-out.
Almaty, meanwhile, have made history by becoming the eastern-most club to ever reach the group stage of the Champions League – a feat that means some of Europe’s biggest hitters could travel thousands of miles in the coming months.

A fourth added: “Kairat Almaty are the eastern-most club to ever play in the Champions League and the second ever Kazakh club to play in the UCL. We have a new debutant in the UCL.”
Speaking after the full-time whistle, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers expressed his disappointment at the result.
“It was very frustrating,” he said. “It’s bitterly disappointing because we were on the right track last season, playing really good football, so to not be in there this season is a huge blow for us.”

Rodgers added: “We all know the consequence. We want to be in the Champions League. We aren’t. The Europa League’s still a prestigious tournament, but we missed a massive opportunity in these two games.”
