Everton have made contact with Real Sociedad over the potential signing of Takefusa Kubo, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Adding another winger is likely to be a major priority for the Toffees this summer, with no natural right winger currently at the club. Dwight McNeil and Illiman Ndiaye are able to be deployed in this position, but if Everton want to go to the next level in the 2025/2026 season, signing a player who predominantly plays on the right-hand side would be beneficial.
Everton have signed a backup goalkeeper in Mark Travers, a new left-back in Adam Aznou, and a centre-forward in Thierno Barry, so signing a new winger could be next on their shortlist. Last season, the Toffees had both Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom as options for the right wing, but the duo have returned to their respective clubs following their loan spells.

Reporting on X, Romano has confirmed that Everton have enquired about the potential signing of Real Sociedad winger Kubo, while they await a decision from Lyon’s Malick Fofana.
Described as ‘world-class’ by former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, Kubo is a natural right-sided attacker, and he could be exactly what David Moyes’ side need.

It’s clear to see that the Toffees are now switching their focus to bringing in a new winger, and it’s no surprise. The Merseyside club have slowly been creating a bigger squad with added depth, but it could now be time to add players capable of making a big impact as a guaranteed starter.
There’s an argument to suggest that Travers, Aznou, and Barry, who are three new additions during the summer transfer window, may only be squad players heading into the 2025/2026 campaign, and Moyes will need players to make an immediate impact alongside that.
