Eddie Howe Drops Major Alexander Isak Bombshell After Claims Newcastle Won’t Sell
Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has broken his silence on reports that the Magpies are not selling Alexander Isak this summer.
Over the last few weeks, Swedish international Isak has been heavily linked with a move away from St. James’ Park.
The 25-year-old, who scored 27 goals in 42 matches last season, has attracted major interest from Premier League champions Liverpool.
Liverpool had a bid rejected for Isak and it was claimed that the Reds will not bid again unless given encouragement by Newcastle.
On Saturday, a report by The Telegraph stated that Newcastle had informed Isak that he would not be sold this summer, blocking him from making his preferred move to Anfield.

After Newcastle were beaten by Atletico Madrid in a pre-season friendly match on Saturday afternoon, Howe was asked about Isak’s future.
When quizzed on whether the club told Isak that he is staying, Howe replied: “No, that’s not something I’m aware of. I’m not party to all discussions, but I have no knowledge of that.
“I want players who really want to play for this club.”
In preparation for Isak leaving, the Magpies have been linked with the likes of Ollie Watkins, Nicolas Jackson, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa.

What has Arne Slot said about Alexander Isak joining Liverpool?
Liverpool boss Arne Slot was also asked about the potential of Isak moving to Anfield.
The Dutchman replied: “As you know from me, and I think every manager works like this, you never talk about players that are not yours.
“So I can talk to you about Hugo, who we’ve signed recently and has done really well until now.”
Slot added: “We are very happy with the squad we have and there’s every reason to be happy about that, because we won the league last season.

The biggest Premier League transfer story of the summer is almost certainly to do with the future of Alexander Isak. The Swedish striker appears desperate to join Liverpool, but his current club Newcastle United aren’t going to make any move easy.
As one of the best strikers on the planet, having bagged 62 goals in 109 games for Eddie Howe’s side, it’s not hard to see why Isak is a wanted man. In fact, the Magpies have already refused a £120m+ bid for their star man.
The latest news is that Newcastle have now decided they have no intention to sell Isak this summer. As per the Telegraph, the 25-year-old will not be allowed to join Liverpool this summer in a show of defiance from the club’s Saudi owners.
Isak Unhappy With Newcastle Transfer Decision

The same report explains that Isak has now been personally informed of the decision by the club’s board, and it’s fair to say he did not take the news well. It was noted he then refused to ‘accept decision with good grace’, with the player clearly upset:
“Newcastle’s steadfast position on the matter has caused acrimony and tension, with Isak refusing to accept the decision with good grace. He has subsequently been ordered by manager Eddie Howe to train away from the group.”
The article goes on to explain that Isak won’t get his move, nor will he even play for the club again, until he can accept his fate. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can change any minds at Newcastle with another big bid, but the club appear to have held the same stance for some time now.
Indeed, GIVEMSPORT sources have understood since late July that the Magpies’ hierarchy has put a block on any summer exit. Helping their case is the fact that the club’s bosses do not need the cash, and they don’t need to satisfy any Profit and Sustainability requirements either.

With so much speculation over his future, the Swedish striker has not taken part in any pre-season games for Newcastle, missing the club’s tour of Asia. On top of this, he even spent a brief period with his personal fitness team training at his former club Real Sociedad.
As things stand, GIVEMESPORT understands that he is now back in England but has been told by Howe to train alone and at separate times to his Newcastle United teammates. Any chances of a move have also been damaged by Benjamin Sesko opting to join Manchester United instead of the Magpies.
