And there is no sign of the Northern Irishman renewing that deal given the club’s shoddy summer transfer window up until this point.

Chris Sutton thinks there are differences between the board and Rodgers in terms of their ambitions, and has told fans they can forget about the manager extending his time in Glasgow.
Sutton insists Rodgers doesn’t need to put up with the complacency, or even worse, the incompetence of the Celtic hierarchy for much longer.
In his Daily Record column, Sutton wrote: “It’s Celtic that clearly have an issue and there’s an obvious disconnect between the board’s thinking and the ambitions of the manager and the support.
“On the manager, you can forget about Rodgers signing a new deal. Why would he? He’s been sent into a Champions League play-off with both arms tied behind his back.
“He doesn’t need this grief. He must have looked at his bench the other night and wondered – f*** me, what is the point?”
Should Rodgers take some of the blame?
There’s no doubt the Celtic board are at fault this summer because as Rodgers has stressed many times, the hierarchy do the transfer wheeling and dealing.

Celtic will be eager to avoid losing Rodgers but the reality is that it is Groundhog Day for Brendan. The Celtic manager was in this position back in 2018, which ultimately led to his departure to Leicester City. If Celtic do not match Rodgers’ ambition then we will lose the manager. Rodgers spoke about being at Celtic as long as his ambition aligned with the club with talks expected to continue later in the year about his future.
