Nottingham Forest left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has picked up an adductor muscle injury and is set to miss Ukraine’s international fixtures this month, according to TaToTake.
Zinchenko joined Forest on loan from Arsenal late in the summer transfer window, and he’s quickly become a key player under Ange Postecoglou. The Ukrainian international left-back has started four games already for The Tricky Trees, cementing his place as the starting defender on the left-hand side.
The Arsenal loanee is yet to pick up a victory since joining the club, with Postecoglou struggling to get a tune out of his team since replacing Nuno Espirito Santo last month. The most important thing for Zinchenko is that he’s playing regularly after falling out of favour at his previous club, but he could be set for a spell on the treatment table.
Zinchenko Picks Up Injury With Nottingham Forest
According to TaToTake, via Ukrainian journalist Zorya Londonsk, Zinchenko will miss Ukraine’s October international fixtures after picking up an adductor muscle injury, which was most likely sustained during Nottingham Forest’s defeat against Sunderland.
Zinchenko, who earns around £120,000-a-week at the City Ground, started Forest’s game against Sunderland in the Premier League at the weekend, and managed to complete 90 minutes. It’s unclear whether Zinchenko actually picked up the injury during the game or in training this week, but he’s set for a spell on the sidelines it seems.
It’s unclear how long Zinchenko is going to be out for, or whether it’s simply a precaution ahead of the international break, but it will be interesting to see whether Postecoglou provides an update ahead of their Europa League clash this week. It means Zinchenko could miss at least two games for Forest, with the Midlands outfit playing in Europe this week and in the Premier League at the weekend.
Nottingham Forest host Danish side Midtjylland on Thursday evening, before making the journey up to the North East to face Newcastle United on Sunday. After the international break, Forest host Chelsea in the Premier League, before playing Porto at home in Europe.
