The Italy international continues to excel in the middle of the park, shining in Newcastle United’s 4-1 win over Manchester United.

While Harvey Barnes was Newcastle’s best player, there is no doubt that Sandro Tonali rivalled him for the man of the match award.
The 24-year-old was commanding in midfield alongside Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, with his endless energy ensuring that Man United could never truly get a grip of the game.
Tonali was outstanding in and out of possession, while he also chipped in with another goal.

It was a brilliant strike from Tonali – a sweet volley to give Newcastle United the lead after a smartly lobbed pass from Alexander Isak.
He has now scored in consecutive appearances at St James’ Park, with Tonali taking his season tally to five.
With seven games to go, Tonali is one goal away from reaching a personal milestone.
His goal against Manchester United means that the £55million man is having the joint-best scoring season of his career. He netted five goals for AC Milan in the 2021/22 campaign, and now he has done the same in the 2024/25 season for Newcastle.
Tonali has never been a prolific scorer in his career, but it is great to see him chipping in with a few goals. Hopefully he can score at least one more goal before the season comes to an end and surpass his tally from the 2021/22 season.
Alexander Isak can also make history
While a sixth goal of the season will be a career high for Tonali, his Toon teammate Alexander Isak is also on the brink of his own bit of history.
During the 2023/24 season, Isak scored 25 goals in all competitions. It was the best tally of his career, and the first time he had hit the 20-goal mark.

Isak has hit that milestone again this season, with the 25-year-old currently boasting 24 goals in all competitions.
With seven games to go, the Sweden international will be desperate to equal and then surpass the number of goals he scored last season.
Nick Woltemade Scores ‘Best Penalty of All Time’ As Fans Speechless
Nick Woltemade’s penalty for Newcastle United against Nottingham Forest has been hailed by fans as among the greatest spot kicks they have ever seen.
Woltemade made the switch from Stuttgart to Newcastle over the summer for an initial reported transfer fee of £65m.
The 23-year-old Germany international arrived to partly fill the boots left by Alexander Isak after the Sweden striker’s British record £125m transfer to Liverpool.
Woltemade started this afternoon’s Premier League clash at St James’ Park as Eddie Howe’s side aimed to sign off for the upcoming international break with Premier League victory over Forest, who are currently winless in all competitions under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

The Magpies took the lead in the second half thanks to a curling effort from midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
The Brazilian then turned provider when he was brought down in the box by former Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson.
Woltemade took the subsequent penalty with a slow run-up before finishing emphatically with a rifled effort into the top right hand corner, which struck the roof of the net and that very few, if any, goalkeepers would be able to save.
The win has seen Newcastle move up to 11th in the top flight table prior to Brentford taking on Manchester City, while Forest are only a point and a place above the drop zone as pressure builds on Postecoglou.

After netting this afternoon, Woltemade has joined esteemed company in Newcastle folklore by becoming only the third player to score in his first three Premier League games for the North East club, joining Les Ferdinand and Alan Shearer who achieved the feat in 1995 and 1996 respectively.
Following the impressive feat and in particular the penalty which achieved it, fans have been quick to praise the Germany international.
And some have even gone as far as saying on social media that Woltemade’s penalty against Forest is among the ‘best of all time’.

Another fan agreed and wrote: “That’s outrageous that penalty from Woltemade one of the best I’ve ever seen.”
One fan said: “Woltemade with the best weirdest looking penalty I have ever seen.”
Another fan posted: “That Woltemade penalty was GORGEOUS.”
And one fan simply said: “Woltemade ……..never seen a penalty so beautiful.”
When Newcastle return to action after the international break, the Magpies are on the road as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the AMEX Stadium in the Premier League.
