Silva led Olympiacos to the Greek title in 2016 under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and the pair have maintained a good relationship.
While prising him away from Craven Cottage is seen as difficult, Forest’s interest does put the spotlight back on the ex-Hull, Everton and Watford boss.
Silva, who has turned down several lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League, has been very vocal about Fulham’s lack of transfer business in recent windows.
Silva took charge of Fulham in the Championship, earning promotion back to the Premier League in his first season in charge as second-tier champions. In three seasons back in the top flight, Silva has steered the Cottagers to 10th, 13th and 11th place finishes.
