Many people suspected that it was because Gerrard didn’t want to tackle Celtic while answering to Rangers chief Kevin Thelwell.

And then others also suggested that he wasn’t impressed with the state of the Rangers squad and it’s capability to challenge Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys.

Thelwell appears to have been given strict instructions on the criteria for selecting the next Rangers boss.
Firstly, the news boss must pass the Rangers fans test and secondly, he must work within the financial budget Rangers set.
In his latest blog, Phil said, “Mr Gerrard clearly ticked the first one [box].
“However, my understanding is that the dignified conclave in London fell apart when the financial details were explored.
“I now believe that Hector would expect around £8m from Mr Gerrard if he comes back to the UK at the moment.
“That’s a seven-figure sum, Stevie, just clarifying…”
Dearie me. Phil has a great saying that he always uses whenever he urges people to look into what Rangers are up.
‘Follow follow the money’ and it appears that on this occasion, Gerrard’s apparent ‘love’ for Rangers is not really worth it.
