Danny Rohl has revealed a Rangers dressing room summit after the Euro bashing by Bergen has got his men ready to rock again.
The Ibrox gaffer was thrown in at the deep end after replacing Russell Martin and suffered set backs in the Europa League and in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Celtic.
But Rohl has got Gers motoring again in the Premiership with three wins on the bounce and he’s determined to maintain the charge when the side gets back to business at home to Livingston on Saturday.
Rohl – speaking to Rangers TV – said: “We are in a good way but in some minutes of the game, you see old habits and we have to work on that.
“In three weeks, we had six games, but we showed in the league that we are going in the right direction.
“But you can’t do less, you have to be on the front foot and do more because we want to win more games in the future. I think we are going in the right direction.
“The reaction after the game in Bergen was crucial for us. We were honest with each other in the meeting room and we spoke about the basics and it’s getting better and better. Of course, in all the phases of our games there’s still space for improvements and that is important.
“We have increased the levels and intensity but of course we want to do more.”
Meanwhile Rohl insists Rangers have landed one of the best game changers in the business after snapping up set-piece coach Scott Fry.
The Gers gaffer has added the specialist coach to his background team after being alerted to his spectacular strike rate at Lincoln City.
Former Wolves man Fry helped make the Imps the most deadly set-piece side in England’s League One – and Rohl is convinced he can give the Light Blues an extra attacking edge.
The boss said: “We have Scott Fry now and it was very important for me to get the best man for this part of the game, a lot of goals come from set-pieces.
“If you are drawing a game then if you have a set-plays coach then it gives you a good opportunity to score.
“You have a lot to do and it is important if you have an expert around you who is working 24/7 for set-pieces then he will help us a lot.
“It is about bringing things from the meeting room onto the pitch and for this you need a specialist.
“We looked through the data and who has the best data in set-pieces, what makes sense and what is possible in the market and we found a shortlist.
“I spoke to some guys and in the end Scott did really well in the meeting, he has a clear idea of what he wants to do and identity in set-pieces and I am very happy to get him here.”
The Gers boss is looking forward to resuming the Premiership charge against Livingston at Ibrox on Saturday after racking up three league wins on the bounce since replacing Russell Martin.
