German outlet Bild claimed on Tuesday that Woltemade has been ‘unhappy for ages’ at St James’ Park and would be keen on a move to Bayern Munich, who were believed to be interested in signing him last year.
Chronicle Live have appeared to pour cold water on those suggestions, reporting that Newcastle officials were ‘left unimpressed’ by the suggestion that Woltemade is unsettled in England.
But now fans of another English club are convinced he will instead sign for them after seeing the striker’s latest social media activity.
In his latest post on Instagram, Woltemade posted a series of recent photos from his camera roll alongside the caption: “Still me.”
Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike responded with a handshake emoji – which Woltemade then pinned as the top comment on his post.
That will more than likely, you expect, have prompted the social media interactions – but some Liverpool fans believe there is more to it.
One wrote: “Liverpool player and future Liverpool player.”
A second stated: “Agent Ekitike.”
While a third claimed: “Woltemade would trade everything to be in Hugo Ekitike’s position right now.”
Notably, Woltemade started Newcastle’s Champions League play-off first leg tie against Qarabag in an attacking midfield role.
He operated behind Anthony Gordon, who scored four first-half goals as Eddie Howe’s side took what is almost certainly an unassailable 6-1advantage back to the North East ahead of the second leg.
