The 21-year-old signed off his season-long stint at Kassam Stadium by winning the club’s Golden Boot award after scoring 12 goals this year.
It represents a remarkable rise for the England youth international, who had only scored his first senior goal in November 2024.
Lankshear, who netted away at Galatasaray in the Europa League in a match he was later sent off in, hadn’t scored a senior league goal until he joined Oxford on loan last summer.
Oxford boss Matt Bloomfield tipped the four-cap England Under-20 star to reach the top during an interview with talkSPORT last month.
“Where can he go in the game?” Oxford boss Bloomfield said.
“If he can stay clear of injury and keep that focus that he has, I think he can go to the top because his finishing is top draw.
“It’s his focus, his single-mindedness to be the best he can possibly be, that is so admirable. And I wish him every success.”
“I’m not here to make decisions for other people,” he added on Lankshear’s Tottenham prospects.
“I think he’s a boy of immense promise, and he’s been a pleasure to work with for this season.”
He told talkSPORT Breakfast: “They are going to have to do only a little bit of surgery on the team; they have spent a fortune [last year].
“I know they recouped a lot of money last year but they spent a lot of it and I doubt they have any left to spend it again but they are going to have to replace Salah, that’s the first point of call.
“There’s no one in the team currently who’s like Salah, a right sided attacker. There’s options in different positions with Isak and Ekitike but they have injuries they’re working through.
“You have Rio Ngumoha who’s trying to break through, then there’s Gakpo and Wirtz, there are plenty of options going forward but none on the right so they are going to have to replace Salah.
Shebahn Aherne asked whether the previous Ballon d’Or winner would consider the prospect of Jarrod Bowen wearing Liverpool red.
He replied: “How did you know? I told a couple of my mates yesterday that he’s the one player I would sign.
“Obviously he’s a legend of a player, West Ham adore the man and rightly so but if they go down he would be the right fit for Liverpool.
